Gamunex-C Infusion Therapy

See why thousands of patients choose our centers as their preferred destination for ongoing care, including Gamunex-C Infusion treatments.

Gamunex-C is a biologic therapy that is indicated to treat:

Gamunex-C is approved for use in several medical conditions, including:

  • Primary Immunodeficiency (PI): A group of disorders where the immune system does not function properly, leading to increased susceptibility to infections.
  • Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP): A neurological disorder characterized by progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the limbs.
  • Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP): A condition causing low platelet counts, leading to increased risk of bleeding.
  • Secondary Immunodeficiency: Due to other conditions like HIV/AIDS or chemotherapy treatment.
  • Kawasaki Syndrome: A disease in children that causes inflammation in blood vessels.

Referring providers also have the option to order Gamunex-C off-label, which will require additional approvals from the patient’s health plan.

Gamunex-C is a brand of immune globulin (IG), specifically human immune globulin intravenous (IGIV) with subcutaneous injection options. It contains a broad spectrum of antibodies and is used to treat various conditions where the immune system is compromised or requires support.

Gamunex-C is used to replace or supplement antibodies in patients with immune deficiencies and to modulate the immune response in certain autoimmune disorders. This can help protect against infections or reduce symptoms in autoimmune conditions.

The dosing and administration of Gamunex-C vary depending on the indication, patient weight, and individual patient response. In general:

  • Primary Immunodeficiency: Doses can range from 300 mg/kg to 600 mg/kg every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the clinical scenario.
  • Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy: Initial dose is often 2 g/kg divided over 2 to 5 days, followed by maintenance dosing every 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura: A single dose of 1 g/kg or a divided dose of 2 g/kg over 2 days may be used.

Dosing should always be determined by a healthcare provider, taking into account individual patient characteristics and response to therapy.

Common side effects of Gamunex-C may include:
